Learning DaVinci Resolve

Tried that, was better but took ages and not quite there. Need to learn how to make quick easy adjustments. :hugs:

Before I download it and give it a whirl, how is object tracking in Davinci?

I am after a quicker way than using individual key frames to track the other Avata 2 here

acj

End goal is to attach a racing game style marker on it something like this, but that tracks the drone

Tried in FCPX (which is my goto and has very good tracking) but its just moving too fast and is too small especially in the first 10 seconds of the video

With one of the trackers you can define the area it will look for the object in the next frame .. which helps with faster moving items.

The other problem will be the background is changing from non shadow to shadow. That’s when most trackers will struggle.

It’s usually pretty good but not sure about the size and speed of your drone as a target. It’s free and a works well on Apple Mac’s. I use this guy a lot as my attention span is … :face_with_spiral_eyes:

This covers pretty much all tracking modes.

Just d/l the YT and tried .. and this is very much the issue ..

Especially with something that’s not, within itself, identifiable .. being just a small black blob.

It was doing a good job until it passed in front of a darker background.

I mean - can you see it in this frame??

I’d split the frames just before the fail if its just a label?

Can one give me a practical example of when to use an adjustment clip?

All clips are taken with the same camera and same settings in same light. Just grade the Adjustment Clip and spread across all clips.

Two advantages ..

  • Only one thing to grade
  • Any changes can be done to all clips by changing one grade

.. although, I’d personally do that with a timeline grade.

Single vignette effect across all clips.

Same crop across multiple clips

There is no list, but if there were it would be endless.

I see, makes sense, thanks!

FWIW they released the official v20 study guides, books and example projects last week:
