Not sure if this question or similar has already been asked!!! I have decided to join the ‘DJI club’ but with a limited budget. There are a couple of interest free deals at the moment and will be going down that route. With lockdown lifting soon (hopefully) and the weather picking up (hopefully), I feel I NEED a better drone. The question is, I’ll have about £400ish. Do I go for the Mavic mini fly more combo or the standard mini 2 set up. Can’t really stretch to the mini 2 combo or it would be a no brainer!
I was interested the fimi x8 se recently but the new regs changed my mind. I tend to favour photos over video but never had a drone which could take 4k on a really good gimbal. The mini 2 specs are impressive, the occusync system and better stability in wind are drawing me that way. But only 1 battery is a bit of a bummer! Any thoughts guys?

I replaced my 1 with a 2 on release day and the difference is night and day, especially given the rule changes and where you are able to fly (more built up).
The 1 really does struggle with connectivity in busy wifi areas.
Have a look at Very they do 10% off and BNPL brings the combo down to £500 or the standalone to £380, the combo is the better deal for the charging hub and £100 worth of batteries
Personally I would go for the Mini 2 and buy extra batteries later when budget allows. I think the Ocusync, improved photo/video quality and better stability will count in the long run. Do your research in terms of places to buy the Mini 2 - I got my MA2 from Jessops on a zero interest deal over 12 months.

TO ME their only 2 diferances between the minis. which are zoom camera 4k and weight in a nutshell
But other droners will find more
Add signal quality as a 3rd, even sticking to VLOS range I’ve noticed big improvements with the 2.

If you can bud i would stretch to mini 2 from all i have read about it and have witnessed by owning one. Its a great bit of kit. despite the mini being a good drone as well from what i have read and watched on YouTube.

Mini 2, if you can stretch to it. Loads of improvements - some already mentioned like Occusync 2.0, 4k, zoom etc. but it is lighter, meaning you can add filters or strobes without going over 249gms, has a better, more user friendly controller. There are plenty of videos on YouTube discussing the benefits. Batteries are about £50, so buy the basic kit and add a battery later. I got mine from Very, using their discount code. Came in at about £390, including delivery.
I’ve had both and would seriously recommend the Mini 2, I was always terrified that the Mini would be blown away in the slightest breeze. I’ve had really good results with the 2 both photo & video and I also prefer the controller.

Again go for the Mini2. You can probably consider that the original Mini was a Beta test as the Mini2 addresses many of the failings of the original Mini including but not inclusive:
Lousy range.
Lower spec’d camera.
Poor wind resistance.
Poor durability.
Excetera, Excetera, Excetera.
If you go for the basic package you can still get extra batteries and accessories as and when your funds allow.
Depends if you’re going to need the extended range and higher wind ability really. Unlike others, I’ve had no issue flying long distances in built up cities on the Mini 1. 4k doesn’t offer much in reality.
Having said that the price difference isn’t that great and the Mini 2 is clearly much better so it it just means a few more weeks saving I’d do that.
I have both the 1 and 2, imoa you’re better off getting the mini2 without the combo as I did and just gradually buy a couple of spare batteries although I can use the batteries from my mini 1 combo.
