Local operators in Bedfordshire and surrounding areas

Anyone interested in fly during the hours of darkness to record either photographs or videos for a colleague who does laser light events.
This is a non commercial evenings, and not a financial benefit but you have full copyright to the material you capture…As long as it’s shared with the 2nd party for whom it’s being recorded for.
Preferably some experience of flying at night, recce of launch site prior to all flights.
The lasers are very powerful so you’ll be operating within his Notams area of surface to unlimited height.
If anyone is interested please contact me

Seems like a “I want drone images and video footage of my laser show but I’m not willing to pay for it” kinda deal.

I’ll pass :+1:t2:

That’s your interpretation of it. As a recreational flier at present all my footage of the laser being produced are just to record the display, no crowds involved, it’s purely for entertainment to local community or local residents.
If someone wanted to gain experience before an actual paying commercial job, what better way to get it.
I see no actual problem and had no issues, plenty of forward planning and getting required permission before flying.
Clearly i’ll be keeping it to myself

@Dren - Adrian I’ve removed your email and phone details, as the forum is easily searchable from Google etc we don’t want you getting spammed

If anyone wants to make contact use DM’s and swap numbers etc there

With no contract in place to say otherwise, the footage is the property of the photographer, and copyright stays with the photographer unless they sign it over.
The NOTAM is just a warning it’s not a NFZ, and as such doesn’t stop other air users entering the area. A temp NFZ can be implemented if your colleague wanted to apply for one.

However as you say it’s a good opportunity for someone to practice

Yep I know who that is…apparently he’s got some serious kit to play with, mobile too from inside a van so it can run virtually anywhere and quickly

Looks like you have a few to choose from, cant find any round are way!

Well if people are interested in future displays, or just small beamings, they’re not full on concert display’s as most of these guy’s are just doing it for a buzz to entertain the locals.
The lasers are very powerful and can do some serious damage when running full power, though most are only running lower whilst doing these little shows.
The unlimited heights of the Notams is due to the sheer distance these units can beam out to. If your intentions are to fly near or around the lasers best to make contact with the operator before as our drones won’t survive if you fly through the beams.
I’m flying in conjunction with a good friend just to get some really good experience and practical skills

From my understanding if these lasers were run on higher power they have the ability to cut through steel. If you stood in front of them you’d definitely get some serious burns, loss of eyesight. etc.
Most of these operators spend a thousands of money just on this equipment, so it’s not cheap toys. My friend does it as a career, anything with lasers isn’t to be taken lightly

Sir gunner, I’m no specialist but there are different types of laser, some are harmful and others are not, at the least certain colours can damage the cameras on our drones if we fly direct at them.
I’ve been told there’s several operators around the country, professional operators have ranges of several miles with very good accuracy.
These people can spend beyond 10k per laser
