This is exactly how I did it. I built a 10" quad fully 3d printed.
I can personally recommend carbon fibre frames for their stiffness, weight and durability. And then print the add-ons like camera mounts etc.
I had great fun designing and printing frames, but they just weren’t robust enough and it became a pita reprinting after every crash.

Did you try polypropylene?

So far it seems pretty tough.

I did look into it after you said, but I kind of crash hard some days. I have titanium alloy arms and they end up bending sometimes. 100mph into metal bars ain’t good
