After a 50-minute drive, got there about 10:30, waited in the rain! It eased a bit, so I managed a quick flight & demo for a friend thinking of getting a drone. No one else was about, so I drove home

Did you go to the wrong car park?
That structure is some way south of where the meetup was .. in the North Car Park.

Ahh, shame. did not know of the other section of the park. Had flown at the beacon about 18 months ago with the West Midlands drone club. SatNav gave no clue. Maybe include What3Words URL in future meetups

Always worth following the Meetup link in the OP. The map there will show the exact position for parking and TOAL.

Sorry we missed you. Glad you got a fly in. For future meets just send us a message on here if any problems. I keep checking it during our meets. I think this is pretty much the same for most meets. There will be at least one person monitoring the thread. If i do not get to reply quick them there are people on here who have my number and would probably be kind enough to text and tell me as i would the other way round. Once again, sorry we missed you. Hopefully next time.

Disappointing to hear you couldn’t find the meet 
The meetup details page has markers dropped on a map so you can visually see where to go.
And as Chris said, it also includes what3words and a coordinates link for your satnav.
It also emailed you a calendar entry which contained the coords and a satnav link in your calendar.
Short of driving the car for you, there’s not much else that could have been done to help you find it
