Well normally I’m in Bridgend but next week I’m a Marshal at the UK Challenge which is in the Lake District this year ![]()
Unfortunately, due to work commitments, I can’t attend but will keep an eye out on future events.
Have a great time those who attend.
Weather sounds good too for the event.
Hi John, I will try and make it Friday. bw Neil

The Glorious Day Has Arrived…
Stereophonics are playing in the Principality Stadium tonight (and tomorrow), gates opened at 17.00 and I think they finish about 22.30; hopefully you’ll all have got away ahead of the rush by then! Traffic in the ctiy centre will be rough, though, and several roads around the stadium are closed, whatever you satnav says. Probably best (if you’re coming off the M 4) to come off at J33 and use the A4232 link road to avoid the centre.
I’m planning on being in the car park from 19.45 to meet’n’greet, and am leaving home in good time so as not to have to rush about in the heat. You might have to look for me a bit because I’ll be taking advantage of any shade there is available; should be a light SW breeze to make it borderline bearable! Maroon T-shirt dark shorts straw hat sunglasses fatboy shortarse silly grin.
See you all there, gentlemen, looking forward to it!
Not gonna make it for 19.45, chaps, but I’m on m’way! ETA shortly after 20.00, apologies…
Apologies I’m not able to make it this time. I hope you have a great time.
I’m here! Where is everyone? I am by the cafe.
Looking at the map @rob7 they may have all gone up to the TOAL point by now?
Hopefully @TheJohnster or someone else will check here ![]()
We all found each other eventually; I was the big problem, turning up late due to a fuckup with the buses. Rob 7, who brought his prize 4 pro, his excellent missis and a lively little dog. and Atyndell with a mini 4K and a Neo were the attendees; my thanks to them, and to anyone else who showed an interest. Despite the low turnout we had a crackin’ evening’s flying in perfect conditions in an interesting location, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves; it was really lovely to meet you guys! Really postive interest from passers-by as well! I will be doing this again, give it a few weeks, and next time will try to find somewhere less difficutl to get to, and give at least another week’s notice!
In the event, the 'Phonics traffic didn’t affect the meetup…
It was pleasure really enjoyed looking forward to the next one

That’s us, around the table just to the left of the (closed) cafe, white buidling to left of spillway. Look for Rob7’s Jack Russell to the right of the table. The lady in the white blouse is his missis and the specimen in the red t-shirt is The Johnster (for it was he). Atyndell is in the light shirt and the tall guy is Rob7, heroes all! All other humans in the frame are irrelevant. You’re looking at the sealocks, sluices, & spillway for Cardiff Bay Lagoon from 350’ about 100’ N of the barrage, we are left of centre, but not necessarily in the political sense…
Absolutely lovely people as you say, and a pleasure to meet them. They said they’d enjoyed it, which is very satisfying from my pov, and Atyndell reckoned his first experience of flying with, and around, other people had greatly increased his confidence. They are by no means as blurry in the flesh (can’t speak for myself) and didn’t look anything like ants (also, can’t speak for myself but I don’t think I squirt formic acid at people…
