New DJI mini 2 pilot from Saffron Walden

Hi all, hope everyone is well. I have recently purchased the Mini 2 and absolutely loving it so far.
I’m new to this and have loads of questions which I hope I would get some advice and tips and thought I would join a forum to gain advice and help when required and vice versa although I dont offer much right now but thought I firstly say hi. Thanks.

Hi @JaWri77 and welcome to Grey Arrows :wave:t2:

Have you seen our members map? (Click the burger-menu in the top right) You may find some pilots living near you. Feel free to add yourself to the members map too :+1:t2:

We’re a well established club with many knowledgable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the #questions-and-answers category.

Looking for recommendations of places to fly? Check out our interactive map on Drone Scene - be sure to log in to gain access to the full suite of features and map layers:

Where To Fly Your Drone in the UK

Find places to fly your Drone (UAV) in the UK and share your favourite flying locations with other hobbyists pilots.

And please feel free to add locations of your own too.

Please also take a moment to look at the Membership Levels section on our FAQ as we’re quite different to other clubs and you’ll be eligible for some rather exclusive club discounts as your membership level increases

Thanks for welcome, I appreciate it :grinning: only had it few days and loving every moment so far, although still learning around the DJI app as so much to take in :exploding_head: but feel like a kid again

Hiya mate, welcome from the Black Country.
Best tip: While you’re still learning, keep looking at the drone, not the screen!

John

Will do, thanks John :+1:

Welcome from Sarfend.

Find a big open space, no trees, no pylons and no people and just fly it back and forth, up and down (not too high) around and around and get used to the controls. I don’t know if you’re a console gamer or not but that helped me immensely with the hand/eye co-ordination and the sticks. As john said, keep it in sight, don’t get ambitious and you’ll be OK.

oh, and if you haven’t already get these apps … UAV Forecast, Dronecast or Airdata UAV for the weather and Drone Assist to know where and where you can’t fly legally.

happy flying

That needs to be made into an app

Many thanks buddy, all great info will look into all after work :+1:

Send the 30k per platform and I’m sure that can be arranged.

No need for an app, save as a shortcut on your devices home screen and it acts just like one.

Hang on, I’ll have a word with my mate Mr Gates

Doh! Didn’t think of the shortcut option :+1:
