Hello all!
I’ve owned my Mavic 2 zoom for about 9 months now and haven’t really had much of a chance to get it up in the air, so have decided to join up and introduce myself; hoping to find meets / flying buddies near me, and hopefully pick up some info on nice quiet places to practise flying.
By day I’m an IT specialist, but looking to get out of that field and into Visual Effects and video freelance work; getting the mavic has been a part of this, so the more practise i get with both flying and aerial camerawork, the better!
I’m right on the flight path for Southampton airport, so my local options are pretty limited! Anyway, I’ll search the boards, but if you happen to catch this intro and you’re local, or could suggest a monthly meet, please do say hi!

Hi Ben / @BenHarker, and welcome to GADC. 
An ever increasing number of our members also own the M2Z … so you are amongst good company.
If you haven’t already, take a look at the Map of Members and you’ll see there are a few other members in your neck of the woods, some of whom I’m sure will come and say Hi. (Even me … Hi!)
The forum’s search functions are a very efficient way to find previous threads and posts that might already have covered topics in which you are interested in learning more or answer that niggling question but, when this doesn’t turn up what you’re after, there’s a wealth of knowledge amongst the members, so ask away over on #questions-and-answers.
Also, if you’ve not seen it, check out our map of places where members have flown in the past … which, obviously, doesn’t necessarily mean they are still OK to fly and, as always, any pilot needs to check that everything’s OK before flying at any of them.

hah! yes - i’m just off from barton pev college - i managed to get the bird up in the air over at the old golf course behind fleming park late last year, as that was just outside of the 1km exclusion zone. I’ve also used it during a music video shoot in tripod mode as a really nice, stable, smooth glide camera for panning shots of the band - worked a treat!
i’m still a [admittedly rather late] learner driver at the moment, but hoping to be licensed within the next month or so - once i’ve got that sorted then i will be driving all over the place looking for spots to fly!

Welcome … that’s not a million miles from where I was born (Cowplain) - my dad was a judo teacher at the Portsmouth Naval base for ages and thus why I was there …!
These days back to my familial land, Wales. But welcome on board and I hope you find places to fly. Also seems a lot if us are IT peeps or at least technical in some way or another. Good luck with your plans.
