At the time of writing (March 13) this I am at home in Brisbane Australia, totally Isolated due to a recent Tropical Cyclone “Alfred”* that has recently ravaged my part of the world.
I am about to embark on a grand adventure to the far side of the world. In other words, the UK and Iceland. I recently obtained my CAA operator and Flyer ID and my Icelandic Registrations. Back home in Oz, I am about to complete my Commercial Drone Pilot Licensing (RePL) with CASA. I assumed that most global regulations were based on US FAA standards. While that is true for about 80% of regs, there is still enough local differences to cause some level of confusion - and do not even go near variations in government acronyms.
To cut a long story short, I would be keen to catch up with local enthusiasts to gather an understanding of your local drone scene. I am 67 and have just retired from an education and IT background. I have been flying since about 2019.
I’d love to chat further or attend a Meetup or similar while in the UK.

I am starting my adventures in London where my son lives and works. From there I will be picking up a hire car and travelling clockwise around to Scotland. I am travelling by myself and have a fairly open schedule. I really only have fixed arrival dates and departune date. My late wife walked Hadrians Wall about 5 years ago but beyond that I have no fixed plans.
perhaps there could be some truth to the suggestion that I am a man ahead of my time … or was it just a slip of a digit (I have the same problem when I am flying )
