Personally I’d find a quiet field nearby and just fly the thing.

I’m just down the A3 near Godalming. Yes, just find a quiet corner of a large playing field to start off. There are plenty around Guildford. It’s nerve-wracking to begin with, but make sure you’re legit with an operator ID, and your flyer ID and if anyone objects you can just move on and come back another day. If you’ve got a small drone and get it up high quickly most people don’t even notice it flying about.
