New Member (from Lancashire) First Flight

Hi, new member here from Lancashire. Bought Mini 3 Pro few weeks ago and been desperate to get out but weather not been great.
Decided to go out today even though it wasn’t ideal because of wind gusts. Took it easy, flying relatively low and all was fine. Just glad I have watched so many YouTube videos. Drone went up high when I pressed RtH and wind was too strong for it to return. With battery low I remember watching someone in similar position and they switched too sports mode so the drone could cope with wind. Dropped it down quickly and flew back manually.
Could have been a disaster on first flight. Think I will only go out in perfect conditions going forward. My heart was racing. This is supposed to be a relaxing hobby! Just glad I have watched so many videos before first flight. You learn from you mistakes I suppose.

Hi Russell @Jones9728 and welcome to GADC :+1: :+1:

Hi Russell - welcome to GADC :+1::+1::+1:

Hi and Welcome to the group.

Check your settings for RTH :+1:

Hi Russell, welcome to GADC, enjoy.

Welcome :raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed:

You can change the RTH height in the settings, so in future if you’re doing something like this, and there’s nothing high in the area, drop the height down to avoid this problem - it’s very easy to do, just takes a few seconds.

…. and the benefit with the Mini 3 Pro is you have obstacle avoidance, so if your not in Sport, it’s likely to avoid anything that is a bit too high!

I have a Mini 2 so have to be very careful with a lower level RTH!
