Hi I have just joined. My name is gordon and I live in Southampton. I own a spark had it just under a year I have just upgraded to a Mavic 2 pro with smart controller, loving it but find it a lonely hobby as none of my mates own a drone. Always looking for new locations to fly still getting used to the mavic and smart controller

Hi Gordon / @KTMjunkie , and welcome to GADC. 
A significant number of our members also own the M2P and many own a Spark … so you are amongst good company.
If you haven’t already, take a look at the Map of Members and you’ll see there are a few other members in your neck of the woods, some of whom I’m sure will come and say Hi.

The forum’s search functions are a very efficient way to find previous threads and posts that might already have covered topics in which you are interested in learning more or answer that niggling question but, when this doesn’t turn up what you’re after, there’s a wealth of knowledge amongst the members, so ask away over on #questions-and-answers.
Also, if you’ve not seen it, check out our map of places where members have flown in the past … which, obviously, doesn’t necessarily mean they are still OK to fly and, as always, any pilot needs to check that everything’s OK before flying at any of them.

Hi Gordon, nice to see another Southampton member here 
I’ve only been flying for a couple of weeks and so far I’ve been to the sports centre early one morning, test park and 5 Acres Park (Lordshill) and went over to goatee beach over at Eling to get some ariel views of the docks and river test.
Oh and old Redbridge to fly over the reedbeds.
Loving this hobby and have plans to try different locations ove the coming weeks.
Started off with a Xiaomi Fimi a3 and bang for buck I’m very pleased.

Welcome Gordon to the GADC, several members around your area.
Keep an eye open for someone to arrange a “Meet Up”.
Not nice when you fly alone, it’s always better to get together with other like minded flyers.
It is always better when 2 or 3 of our members get together for an impromptu meet up.
My advice is just to get out into the open spaces that are in your area and practice your skills.
