I’ve just joined the group, I fly a few different drones for fun, and for aerial tree inspections at work up in Perthshire, Scotland.

Flying a drone is great fun but sometimes you feel the need to have a purpose for doing so and the Challenges category provides some great reasons for you to fly.
There are regular challenges which are open to all, that attract members of all abilities. Support, advice and constructive criticism is freely available; still photography, video and the techniques for editing both are involved in the challenges. Suggestions, for subjects or for complete challenges, are always welcome - take a look in the Challenges category for more information.
We’re a well established club with many knowledgeable members so it’s very likely that any issues you come across will have been discussed here before. Our discussion forum has very powerful search features which should help you find what you need but if you get stuck you can post a new question in the Questions & Answers category.

I got the drone initially for work, but now I have 3… 
Such good fun!

Yes that’s for sure. It’s a real shame, some big old trees came down in Eowyn… not a bad problem to have as a tree surgeon though maybe 
I’ll maybe see some of you out and about. If you see some sort of hippy/hobo looking bloke flying, there’s every chance it could be me
It depends… maybe I do… but it won’t be hardwood, that’s never free 
All wood is good if it’s seasoned correctly (there are a couple of exceptions, like willow)
Some hardwoods are overated, like oak IMHO. I prefer stuff like beech, silver birch etc if I can get my hands on it, but I’ll quite happily burn larch, sycamore, even leylandii if I season it long enough. Let me know if you ever have a surplus and we can talk pennies?
