New Sandisk E Pro 128g question

Just put a brand new 128g Extreme Pro in the mini 2 and it says there is only 118g available ,
Anyone explain this please.
Been robbed of 10 gig there.

Have you formatted it?

Yes in the drone ,do I need to do it on pc?

You should have 119.20G to get technical:

Based on manufacturer’s view,

1Kb=1000bytes

1Mb=1000kb

1Gb=1000mb

So 128gb=(128*10^9bytes)

But Actually 128*10^9 bytes means

1Kb=1024bytes

1Mb=1024Kbytes

1Gb=1024Mbytes

So

128*10^9Ă·1024=125000000Kbytes

125000000Ă·1024=122070.31Mbytes

122070.31Ă·1024=119.20Gbytes

So you will get 119.20 Gigabytes storage in 128Gb memory card…

Gave headache just reading the math heck lone working it out

That’s an outdated format and doesn’t equate to ssd/flash memory where 1G is (in theory)1000*3 but even that isn’t straight forward as useable memory is manufacturer specific and they factor in buffering and a few other components…

Tell us more :+1:t2:

it isnt out of date, thats how all memory is allocated, its still bits and bytes whether you are using a top of the range SSD to an old c64 tape drive.

I think a bit is still a bit and byte is still a byte. So is it 8 bits to a byte then that’s where i get lost lol.
