# Newbie but Oldie

Hi there. I’m cracking on a bit, but am interested in getting a drone with a view to maybe commercially operating one in a year or two. I live in Southend on Sea. I guess we have particular restrictions here because of the airport.
I’m thinking of getting a mini drone, obtaining a flight id, operator id and then perhaps the A2 C of C. Then I will consider getting a C2 drone when I have the readies
In the meanwhile I am hesitant to even learn the basics with the very cheap drone I have for fear of breaching restrictions. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Don’t fear
It so safe . I flown drone into myself lots of times and it did not hurt.
It is less risk that driving at the speed limit and less chance of any enforcement for an accidental error. Not that I think you will breach.

First of all check dronescene to make sure the area is not in a Flight Restriction Zone. If it’s not then that removes most of the risk of breaching some rules.
Secondly, pick times when the park is quiet (early mornings are good, but not so easy this time of the year.
I suspect within an hour you will realise they are not as difficult to control as you thought 😉
One final point …. I would recommend against purchasing the cheapest drone you can find (a toy drone). They are generally harder to fly, and you will outgrow it in the first week.
A DJI mini is a great starting point.

If you do the Op ID and Flyer ID you’ll know the most important stuff.
I’m 70 years young and started drone flying earlier this year.
