At least you can say you’re well-practised in flying in that area for the next time you go!
Not that I have ever had it set on, but I’m 99% certain that on my old M1P you can set it to auto record on take off?
Does that not exist on more recent DJI drones?

The reason I don’t have it set on is that I take more photos than videos.
Didn’t realise it was voluntary, otherwise i would have claimed about ten times over by now.
Nearly loosing drones, forgetting to charge batteries, forgetting memory cards, forgetting to press record, the list goes on.

Think we’ve all done it at some point. Where did you go with it? Moreton or Perch Rock? I live on the Wirral.
I took dog for walk down the lane to Lingham farm by Lingmere Fishing pond Then got back to car and wind was really light so got drone out for fly around Lighthouse in Moreton.Shame I can’t show footage 
I have a slight variation on this theme …
I somehow managed to get myself ‘out of sync’ so that when I pressed the button to start recording, I was actually stopping the recording, and then when I pressed again to stop, I started the recording!
I have lots of video of me setting up for the prefect footage, then more footage of me setting up for the next perfect fly past etc.
Plonker indeed!

There was a great tube of a similar thing a chap did at Disney, holiday of a lifetime missed ;o)
done that with my phone, lots of footage of the inside of my trouser pockets
