Quad Woes :(

I’ve been out twice now to the same spot but both times the quad flipped out even before I flew. Prop directions are correct and I had my laptop with me today so spent an hour trying to work out what the issue is and it seems that Motor 3 will spin then cut out when throttle is applied.

On the bench checking it again it seems that the motor will spin properly if the throttle is applied really slowly but as soon as it is applied at any normal rate it just stalls out and goes into a notchy low RPM spin. Not sure if it’s the ESC or the motor itself. Any insight would be appreciated. I do have a new stack (destined for another build) so I could potentially change the stack out, but I thought I’d check before I do.

If you could shed some light on the build please @Seti

Just so we know what we’re looking at? :person_shrugging:t2:

I’d start by replacing the motor if it was me, cheaper option first :+1:t2:

It’s an old quad I’m resurrecting.

Specs are:
Diatone Mamba F405 V2 Stack
DYS Samguk Series Shu 2306 2500kv Motors

It’s been flown only a few times, as I built it just before the pandemic, so it’s been in storage ever since.

While that would normally be true, as I have said above it’s an old quad, so I can’t get the motors any more so I have to replace all of them.

maybe just swap 2 motors - this should help pinpoint if motor or esc issue.
may be worth also checking the motor screws to make sure they are well clear of the motor coils

Normally I’d think to do that but today seems is not that day :stuck_out_tongue:

Have checked and it’s a dead motor. Screws aren’t touching so it’s not so simple (It’s flown before) Googled and seems you can still get them from Aliexpress, have ordered 2 to make sure I have a spare.

Many thanks!
