It seems I should be able to connect the RC2 to the computer via UBD just like a hard drive it does not seem to be recognised. I’ve tried different USB cables and different ports on the computer and tried both lap top and computer and neither can see the RC2. Has anyone had this problem / know how to fix it?
Up till now I’ve resorted to just putting the SD card in to download the files instead but something strange is going on. There is a recent screen recording on the disk instead of the SD card and I can’t work out how to get it off. It seems to keep switching to internal storage. Even though the card is inserted it tells me that the card isn’t available and so switches back. I’ve removed the card and reinserted it and then switched the storage back to card but it keeps reverting.
I’ve just seen a firmware update is available and thought that might fix the problem but when I went to install it said there was insufficient room on the disk. I wanted to see what was on the disk before I cleared the cache to perform the update. I’ve no idea what is stored in the cache - is there any need to keep what’s there?
I read you can transfer the txt files to the computer but as I can’t connect to see the files I’m back to where I started.
I am just a beginner so I don’t think there is anything that I have done / recorded that really matters and I am fairly sure that I have already copied my screen recordings over. It’s just the most recent one which seems to have recorded to disk without me knowing and I am fairly certain I stopped recording before I turned things off.
Any help much appreciated.
PC or Mac?
Hi Sorry - its a pc
OK, mine works fine so unable to offer any advice. PC should indeed read it over USB connection. Though a Mac cannot directly read the Android files system so needs a ‘utility’ app to do so. Just thought I’d check
Might check your USB cable, maybe try another one, should be a ‘data’ cable not necessarily just a cable designed for recharging ![]()
The pc sometimes needs the device to be switched on in order to be able to access files.
Found someone on mavic pilots with same issue. They said to connect the controller first then turn it on. When I do this file explorer opens for a second or two then a message pops up saying it has either stopped responding or has been disconnected.
I’m minded just to clear the cache and try the firmware update. Is there anything important in the cache?
If you connect the controller, switch it on and wait for it to boot, then swipe down from the top of the screen, do you have an option to change the usb mode? It might have been switched to “only charge” or similar?
I’ve had a similar problem.
My laptop would detect the RC2 then drop the connection, reconnect & drop constantly. It is stable when using a USB hub.
Hi - Thanks, I can see it is charging so I think I can assume that it’s not a problem with the cable or the connector. I’ll have a look for an option to change the USB mode though.
Thanks, good to know it’s not just me! I’ll see if we have a hub that I can try.
Have you tried another cable, all USB cables are not created equal, some are not data enabled.
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve tried various cables but no difference. It seems that there are (or the controller thinks there are) 10mb of files in internal storage yet they are not visible in the album folder on the controller. I’ve tried everything to clear space for the firmware update but can’t see what else to do now other than a factory reset.
Might be a time to invoke Care Refresh .. if it’s covered?
Not covered - bought from MPB not DJI. Just pressed the reset so will see what happens. ![]()
Did it work ?
So I seem to have sorted it. Managed to sync my data so I didn’t lose it, clear the storage and get the firmware update. I’ve managed to connect to my computer now using a different USB socket - I tried several sockets before but not sure if I tried all of them so can’t be sure if it is the firmware update or the socket that was the issue. Couldn’t find the recent screen recording that I could view before but not locate to copy. Not a big deal though.
Thank you to all who tried to help. Hopefully I’m back on track now. ![]()
I know from having a problem with a controller. When sent as a warranty or a Care Refresh repair they could not identify the problem but there is a small scratch on the screen.
To begin with they wouldn’t return it unless I paid (£100+) for a new screen, ie they send out a new one. I refused and insisted that they return it as is.
While flying, my controller screen goes completely black except for the camera grid, or it goes to the home screen.. This makes it very difficult when doing complex flights and are relying upon the screen to avoid obstacles
DJI told me that only the drone is covered by Care Refresh
