I was told I need to ditch fr sky and change the GPS to something better.

Question I have is where do I remove old receiver (frsky) and is that all I need to remove?

Depends up how the Flight Controller is wired, depends upon what firmware you have/will have in flight controller.

Most likely the frsky is connect to the Flight controller and this could be a straight swap for a ELRS receiver,
