Just seen this one (was not really looking into this - not sure how good / reliable / …) – but obviously already available - and not as expensive as what I have heard floated around
£38 plus postage
Scandalous.
I have 6x quads that will need it, so that’s the best part of £240 ![]()

To add insult to injury, 4x already have GPS installed.
As long as you only fly one quad at the time - you should be able to use a single remote id unit? - with a bit of planning not to make it too taxing to move from quad to quad
There are a few reviews around (Bardwell, Oscar) - unit seems to perform well enough (despite being a ‘mini’ GPS - ie 16mm antenna)
Bardwell noted the connector is not standard though - and the 2 pigtails in the box are low quality so something to look into…
Not much in the sense of alternative as of now it seems - there is a Roku about the same price and a stand alone remote id only from Holybro (likely higher quality - more expensive and bigger though)…
Will wait a bit more to see if anything new comes around - looking at the comment section of the reviews - nobody seems to worry much about it in the US despite being mandatory for 2 years now…
I hate to be the “n00b” but do we reckon this would work well with a Pavo20 Pro rocking the O4 Pro? I’ve been looking for a GPS module for a little while (mainly RTH purposes) and having RID built in seems like a no-brainer.
It should work.
Personally I am holding off on this one because of the connector
The batch Bardwell reviewed came with an unknown connector (not the standard jst one) - and the included pigtails have cheap plastic wires (not silicon)
Trying to solder thin plastic wires is a giant pain in the &^% as by the time you have enough heat in for a good joint the plastic starts to melt and leave the strand naked…
May be possible to de-pin the connector and replace the wires but not a certainty and will require some faffing about.
For comparison you can get a similar GPS unit (without remote id) for less than £15 (HGLRC M100 mini) - or even a better one (its 20mm antenna bigger brother is £15).
Cool, thanks for letting me know about the pitfalls!
I was originally looking to get something like this - Foxeer M10Q 180 5883 Compass GPS Module – Unmanned Tech
I’ve just been procrastinating ![]()
Careful, with this one it is only certified by the FAA in the states. The only one I could see that claims to support CAA UK remote id is Dronetag and it’s £90 or so ![]()
link: https://www.dronetag.com/products/bs
That’s a bold claim when CAA haven’t even published the UK spec requirements for third party Remote ID modules yet ![]()
The CAA have published requirements, and new drones have had to comply since 1 January 2026…
CAA Website (3rd paragraph): https://www.caa.co.uk/drones/moving-on-to-more-advanced-flying/remote-id-rid/
And the requirements…
CAA Document (page 45 and 105): https://regulatorylibrary.caa.co.uk/2019-945-pdf/PDF.pdf
Actually ignore Page 45, it was mentioned on the website but I just had a look and I think Page 105 is the better page ![]()
Nice find, thanks for the link ![]()
There’s no date on that document apart from January 2026, I wonder when it was updated ![]()
I found this If it helps
