Return To Home location

As a learner - second time around! I had a Holy Stone for a week 2 years ago and on second flight pressed RTH and never saw it again! Trying again with a Potensic Atom - question is if I move several hundred yards away from where I set the drone up and took off from where will the drone return to - me or the original spot

Unless you change it while flying, always where it took off from

If you had a mini 5 pro and the RC2 controller, you can change the home point to dynamic on the controller. It will then reset the home point as you move. Particularly useful on a Boat. The home point will be where the controller is.

In case anyone else wants this :-

How to Enable Dynamic RTH

Ensure your controller has a good GPS connection.
Take off and hover.
In the DJI Fly App tap the three dots menu.
Under “safety”
Select “Update Home Point” and choose “Dynamic Homepoint” confirm it.
The yellow Home Point ‘H’ on your map will change to a blue ‘H’ to show the dynamic feature is active.
The home point will update to the location of the controller

Edit:- If you do use this feature when RTH is activated it will return to the controller loation reduce height and hover above the homepoint as the ground could be unstable and it could be water. Ensure RTH height is set to the tallest thing

It is said that the first Chinese drones with RTH that were sold in Britain had the home point still set to the factory in Beijing.
Not realising that the home point had to be reset, many operators lost their drones when they hit RTH . . .

That is probably why I could not find it!

I have an Atom 2 and yours may also have this option. Once the drone is in the air, you can change the home point to dynamic mode so it RTH’s to the controller’s location.

The option resets to take-off point each flight.

On the Atom 2, the dynamic return to home setting is in the safety section of the settings menu.
