RTF Competition 9th June toJune 22nd 2024 - History - Vote for the Winners!

Thank you all for your excellent set of diverse pictures, it’s a shame that there can only be three official winners! And those winners are:

In third place is Adrian - @Dren - with the fine-looking Oxburgh Hall seven miles south-west of Swaffam. He assures us that no National Trust officials were inconvenienced during his flight. Besides being a great picture it is also an illustration of what you can do while keeping outside of the arbitrary boundaries that NT and EH claim

Our second place picture, by long-time contributor John - @Drumsagard - gives us two for the price of one, a distant view of the National Wallace Monument with Stirling Castle in the foreground, lit by the evening sun

But, both winning first place and claiming the best value for the money is a picture by Mike - @LordEdam - which has past, present and future in the same photo - as Mike says:

Medieval stronghold of the last true Princes of Wales, in front of a World Heritage Site Dinorwig slate quarry (second largest in the world. The largest is the other side of the mountain). The building on the far shore of the lake is the outflow of one of he largest pumped storage hydroelectric plants in the world (#1 in UK, #2 in Europe, #14 in the world)

As always, congratulations to our three winners and thanks to all who entered; let’s see who wins the next round - Canals
