RTF Competition July 3rd to 16th - UGLY BUILDINGS - Winners Announced

A healthy number of people voted which bodes well for the competition itself. We are looking forward to seeing how many images grace this thread.

The subject for this competition is:

RTF RULES

  • Images must be posted with the following information as a minimum:
  • Location
  • Time and date
  • Aircraft/camera used
  • Feel free to add any further information that you think will be of interest

Drone Scene

  • A valid. sensible and original Drone Scene entry for your image will gain two bonus votes when judging takes place - i.e. there must be no prior Drone Scene entry for the subject of your photograph.
  • Please note the qualifier “sensible” in the previous sentence. Drone Scene entries should be of places and objects that other pilots may want to photograph, for example traffic islands or derelict barns may fall outwith that description!*

Voting

  • Images will be judged by the members of GADC who may vote for any number of images by means of an anonymous poll open for two days after the closing date for competition entries.
  • Voting in the poll is open to all GADC members, whether they have entered the competition or not. You may vote for all, some or none of the entries.
  • Any image that is correctly added to the Drone Scene map with details including the Drone Code compliant take-off and landing point will be awarded two bonus votes.
  • In the event of a tie a guest judge will decide the winner
  • The original media may be requested by the judges in case of a dispute.

  • The competition subject will be announced every second Saturday around 22:30. The subject will be chosen by a poll of GADC members.
  • Entry to the competition confirms your pledge to tithe your wages to the Challenges Committee

As a developer and a planner…

One man’s beauty is another man’s ugliness

And vice-versa…

So let’s see what people consider ugly and find out who defends it. 1960’s Brutalism seems to get a bad press but some mourn those examples already torn down …

Looking forward to seeing the first entry. From someone who presumably won’t have read the rules

Lets kick things off with Lancaster police station. Taken this morning at 07:08 mini 3 pro take off location was 54.046218560655305, -2.798650247341365.
although permission is not required i did notify the control room to save any hassle.

it’s that ugly they had to hide it with some trees

I voted for the Uglies because it’s probably the subject most open to personal taste. I didn’t think Lancaster police station was that ugly but seeing from the air, it looks completely different. Ugly.

I think you you are in the lead Steve.

Nobody else is entering until they change the rules!

Another advantage of being salaried.
:shushing_face::shushing_face:

Quickly screen shots the rules so they can’t be changed.:grin:

When it comes to ugly buildings, Burton on Trent spoils for choice.

But I think this one takes the biscuit.

Built in 1979 Shobnall Maltings Tower stands at 230ft and houses 8 germination vessels, producing a popular American beer (beer is a strong word).

Is that an invitation to the “Yes, we bloody well can change the rules if we want” Challenge then Steve Salaryman?

No. :grin::grin::grin:

Just went to check you didn’t change it to salary,:rofl:

Back in the game !!

I seem to remember that when the silos nearest the camera were built some of the people who lived directly inline with them were most put out.
Not because of the design but because they were interrupting the signal from the Sutton Coldfield TV mast. The daily dose of Coronation Enders and East Street being interrupted had the pages of The Burton Mail full for days.
