Hi. I’m totally new to drone flying and have just bought a Mavic Mini. I was wondering if anyone could answer my question about RTH. I live on a hillside in Hebden Bridge and was thinking of flying my drone out over the town. If I set my max altitude to say 100ft (ie 100 ft above my garden). When the drone flys downwards over the town and I press RTH. Will the drone use the max 100ft reading from where it is? In other words will it rise to 100ft from where I send it or will it read the 100 ft from where it took off.
Thanks
All heights are relative to take off point.
Thanks kvetner.
Be aware that this could be classed as a built up area. not teaching you to suck eggs but if the drone is new to you and its a mini , therefor you might not of done the drone code test.
Thanks for that. Yes I realize it’s a built up area. Just finding out about the rth height
Brilliant. I saw this and wished then that I had a drone
Anytime you fancy a fly drop me a pm, only up in Halifax
Another thing to be aware of. I don’t know how high up the side of the valley your garden is, but if you go to 100’ above ground over your garden and then head out over the valley at that altitude you could find you have accidentally broken the 400’ above ground ceiling for drone operations within the drone code. It’s probably worth putting together a little flight plan for yourself and working out various altitudes from google maps. I’ve done something similar for my local patch so I’ve got a little reference card for altitudes at various launch points and landmarks, safe distances from nearby structures, etc
Thanks for that. I will bear that in mind
