RunCam Thumb - Poor Man's 360Go

This looks like it will be a popular addition to small CineWhoops, or any quad for that matter.

Yeah, shame that the gyro stuff doesn’t work with gyroflow (yet)

See Albert Kim’s review.

Painless360 tried it… he didn’t comment, I guess he’s not used to stabilisation… but the stabilised footage was actually worse (IMHO) !

ah he posted an update

UPDATE: 10Feb22
Many of us who have it have been trying to get it all to work with Gyroflow without success (including the GyroFlow devs!) There appears to be an issue with the Gyro data stored by the camera that is causing the problem. The issue has been fed back to RunCam as it is hoped that a firmware update will fix it and make it all work. I’ll keep you posted and make a video on it in more detail when it is fixed… Stay tuned!

(So, I’ve been posting in another thread… lets get it here so it’s right.)

The GyroFlow is fixed in the Thumb. You need firmware 2.1, which is on the runcam download page:

See this video about the upgrade process and using gyroflow. Read the readme and conf files carefully.

Also flight test footage.

Footage looks very washed out to me but for ÂŁ50 it looks like a no brainer really, and Im sure the colours could be enhanced in post

Yeah, it may be because of where he was as well.

It’s called sunshine. We’re not accustomed to it over here. :sunglasses:

I think I’ll be treating myself to one of these fairly soon. The usual Chinese outlets, I presume?

No you can pick it up from FlyingTech for ÂŁ50 Jez, probably available at other stores too but Ive not checked

Excellent. I have one of those solar circumnavigation celebrations coming up at the weekend. That’s more than enough of an excuse. Right. While I’m shopping, what else do I “need”?

I have to say Ive been putting off strapping an action cam to my quads for both weight and financial reasons. I crash ALOT and the idea of smashing a £300+ of camera into the ground repeatedly doesn’t feel like a wise idea lol
ÂŁ50 for this light weight half decent camera has even got me considering the idea

Exactly this.
Mine’s on its way (or will be tomorrow). We’ll see how long it lasts.

For the loads of you getting this, and not found a mount yet…

This one has come out really well in TPU. Pleased about my bridging capabilities too!!

Printing

Heh, last night I printed two of those mounts, for my Zohd and my Roma F4; and one with a mini gopro mount pasted on (thanks again tinkercad) for my 3" Tadpole, which uses the smaller size screw.

I also remixed and printed a gopro style mount for the zohd…

Oh and I prepared all the wiring on all those.

All I need now is an actual camera…

It’s out for delivery!

heh yeah. I might remix it with smaller holes tbh… Don’t need them that big!

I’ll save you some trouble…

Thanks downloaded it. Though you have the mount suspended which think will struggle to print. Will try when printer has a breather… which is never… Now I’ve got XT30… that’s millions of smaller caps

Put it flat on the plate, upside down from the way it is there and put a bit of support under the horizontal part of the mount.

I use paint-on-supports on prusaslicer to do that.

yeah I paint em on where I need em too, but… prefer not too. This orange stuff bridges really well tbh and not much stringing

I thought you’d found one with a funky printed case.

Needs to use a heat-gun on that… and a very sharp knife.

(without the camera attached or on the drone.
