You made me a lanyard we’ll stick with that. Assume it’s working now. Nice one easy when you know how lol

Might as well do away with configurtor and do everything in cli, if changing settings in configurator doesn’t work.

 not really but

At last the new HQ props have arrived - some mean looking 5.3x8 biblades - and they just about fit my 5" racer with less than 1mm of clearance - I had to add an elastic band to the 12AWG cable to be pulled down as to not be caught by the prop

I only had 1 battery left - first couple of timid runs went well but I seem to hit some sort of desync when ‘accelerating too hard’ I believe - if weather permit I need to try a longer push with nice ramp up like the first run 249km/h my new personal best

Tomorrow I get delivery of the 1800mAh batteries for the rocket drone that should smash all that anyway - just need to finish it now - no excuse

my new submarine is progressing well… :joy:

GPS, VTX + antenna + cam, receiver + antenna, buzzer - all packed neatly in there ready to be plugged - a really different type of build - really enjoying it

I know it’s not drone related, but at the moment I am pulling my old Nikon D70S apart. It’s been converted to Infrared but has decided it can only take completely black pictures. Shutter is fine, diaphragm is fine, lense is fine. So either dodgy connection or gubbed ccd. While I’m in, I’m going to check the memory card connections as I keep getting errors saying the compact flash is faulty or needs formatted.

So close…

Yet so far…

As you are tightening without visibility the routing of the cables requires extra extra care - I also nearly nipped one of the motor cables. Everything is so tight in there I did not even dare add LEDs (yet  )
All set apart from that - new Mipi cable on the way so test flight should not be far off :crossed_fingers:

Couple of tiny whoops. Mob6 ECO the battery connector came off (again) so swapped to a proper BT2.0.

And the mob6 2024 the camera died so replaced that. Will print a higher angle mount for it too whilst apart as well… 45 degrees ain’t enough lol

…. The EV charge box of my wall, not working, very smelly when I took the access plate off.

Here’s why …,

Hopefully sorted later tonight, luckily I have the correct materials and tools to do it :crossed_fingers:

New addition to the family completed - maiden flight today at last after 2 weeks of waiting to get an opportunity to get out. I was a bit worried but it flies really well and did hit 240km/h without trying too hard with some gentle 5.1x4.5 props and default tune. So seems more efficient already than my racer despite being twice as heavy (1kg AUW with the recommended 1800mAh).
I have those new high pitch HQ props but they do not fit in the aerodynamic prop holder so will try to sort something out this week.

I was also able today to try my latest tune for the 7inch - very happy with the result - no more bad shakes and jello so gives decent footage now

Testing with the Action 2 – 4/3 max res 60fps – Gyroflow down to 4K (6% stabilisation) - then autocolor from DaVinci Resolve - which seems to do a decent job even in difficult light condition (sunset)
Even the youtube compression seems to agree
did not edit the sound btw so it gets quite loud…

I now feel I can go ahead and start on my ‘bigger builds’ I have planned for the winter - my head tells me to start with the 10" long range but I cant stop thinking about the XClass frame I have waiting

Good one @Cedric
Very interesting and as this design is for just speed only, it’s crying out to me to fully 3D print using one of my stacks that hasn’t seen daylight in quite some time… I may tryout one around a 3.5" frame as a tester…

I had a look on site at the Prop covers…

If you want DM me the dimensions you need, overlay them over a picture and allow 4.0mm overall for the pitch cutout to clear the prop by 2mm on either side?..

Eventful lunch break today - put the high pitch props on the HS5 (5.3 x 8 - without the aerodynamics prop holder) - the props are so ‘tall’ there is spacer for them - hence the nut has little thread to catch on (thread does not reach the locking nylon)
Decided to go ahead anyway - have a gentle flight first and then check the nuts again before the 2nd pack

First flight with gentle pushes - and boom - 262km/h (162mph - breaking to the top of the leaderboard :rocket:  )

Second flight and just after take off realised I was in Angle mode - switched to acro (or attempted to) - but wondering now if I just disarmed as all went black in the video feed suddenly :man_facepalming: - will check the blackbox later. I may have been 60 feet high so I heard the thump of it hitting the ground close by…

Not much damage though - pretty sure the motor is ok - only the rear battery holder did not resist the impact - new one on order for a fortune

Time to invest in a 3D Printer ?

I did consider/research it - lack of adapted space (I have a detached garage where humidity reaches 90%+ humidity  - and also time somehow as it feels that even with a good printer there is an awful lot of things to grasp/test/experiment/…
I also found by chance a guy on ebay that design/print everything I ask in no time and very little money so finding it a very good solution for now

Now at some point I will want to look at things like this in the near future - I may reconsider then (may have to replace the wife first though  )
