My cinematic vid finally complete.
Got one other vid of all the guest/Draw Farnham interactions cooking, and I see to have picked up someone else’s SD card somewhere with some racey footage that I might throw on youtube later too…

Great editing! Love the added woosh effects
I didn’t want to create mutliple vids so decided to just mix in some footage from that extra SD card I found… I cut out the raciest bits but still some naughty shots whoever that was!
@lbrou and @smudge202, what software did you use for your video editing and colour grading?
I use the free version of Davinci Resolve.
Same. Though @lbrou 's footage definitely came out much better. I need to get better at setting the config correctly on the recordings.
I used to use Adobe Premiere Pro on their monthly subscriptions but a) costs too much for how little I use it, and b) they’re real dicks with their subscription model (make sure you subscribe through a virtual card that you can delete if you do use them!)
Fwiw, @AlbionDrones has a great post knocking around explaining their process using Davinci, colour grading, etc. I just suck at it
Thanks guys @lbrou @smudge202. I’ll check the forum for @AlbionDrones Suzanne’s tips!
Always happy to answer questions or go through anything that works for me - but I don’t claim to be any sort of expert, just have a process that works for me
I have some video footage from the day as well, I just don’t have time to edit it right now! If anyone wants a look or to cut it into your own footage or whatever you are very welcome to, I have just dumped the raw footage here
It’s not great TBH, I was experimenting with ND filters and so some of it is a bit dark, and in the footage of the whoops they are really small so they are hard to see! But it is there if you want it, feel free to use it.
Best ones are probably 0614, 0618, 0619, 0623 and maybe 0577/0584 for establishing shots.
Also happy to share my approach to camera settings / gyroflow / editing / colour grading / motion tracking / sound, whatever would be helpful.
Possible another visit - Poll - Waverley Abbey £30 per person | Sunday, September 29th | Guage interest?
I don’t have much experience editing video (or filming, for that matter), so any tips or advice would be welcome.
Put another little video together with more shots from the day and some of the tinywhoop flights. The follow-the-leader footage is in there as well as some slowmo crash footage
Great footage, though I fear the consequence of EH seeing some of those crashes (anything that touches the ruins itself)!
I don’t think we did any more harm than all the people climbing over and around the ruins day after day, but that’s not to say others would agree!
Love the editing though man; I need to study your vids to see what I can pick up.
Were you colour grading against auto expo footage (there were a couple cases the footage started to switch colours as you moved from light/dark, wondered if you just had a good limiter on it or actually fought it with grading)?
It’s a good point… I can always set to unlisted or take it down if there are any strong opinions within the club. Don’t want to jeopardise the relationship with EH.
Yeah I did have to fight the auto exposure a bit with keyframes. I mainly used the ‘pivot’ parameter in Resolve to do that though. I think I will narrow the ISO range on the camera in future if it’s bright like that. On an overcast day I would fix the exposure but didn’t feel I could leave it constant on the day as the light kept changing so much.
Yeh, my footage came out so poorly I definitely need to spend more time thinking about ISO/Exposure/ND; yours looks super consistent so great job.
@bmsleight is probably the person most likely to get it in the neck if EH has a problem but I think he’s away on a cruise right now; see what he says on his illustrious return.
Thanks!
For now I’ve just set it to unlisted so it can only be found through the embedded link on this forum post.
