I’ve just watched last nights episode of Springwatch and on part of the program it seemed as though the footage was taken using a drone as it decended through the trees before hovering in front of lolow while he did his piece to camera.
My question is, how do they record the audio without the noise of the drone in the background ?
Or maybe I’ve got it all wrong and they didn’t use a drone?
How far in to the program, roughly?
The very beginning? That will have been done on a boom.

Ah, that would explain it but it seems such a large bit of kit to lug through the forest.
Not sure where in the show it was as I was just passing and thought “thats a nice bit of drone footage” and then thought “maybe not”.
If it was the opening shot - they were close to their main base/studio/compound … they were in their “studio” 30 secs later. 
Ah - this bit! Definitely a boom.
