The Corpach Wreck and Ben Nevis

The final footage from our recent Highland Holiday, and the last taken on the journey up to Drumnadrochit on the first day, the Old Boat of Caol and Ben Nevis…

This was the 9th flight of the day, and without a car charger - which we now have - I was literally running on battery fumes - the total flight was 2mins 25 seconds before the drone autolanded, which means I have had to use some footage that I would not normally have done, especially when the drone was bouncing around in the gusty wind!

Still, the sun was shining, Ben Nevis was somewhat visible and the old boat is always an interesting subject…

So, thats it, all of the footage processed and posted, a total of 35 locations visited and separate video’s made, each with its own feel…

I will perhaps do a couple of showreels, one of the sunny days and one of the more atmospheric days and share in the next few days, and then the next big drone adventure is Orkney in late June…

Which car charger did you get (I’m in my mood for a purchase)

Turned out friends who were coming away with us had an old 60W TomTom cigarette lighter cable with a charger slot in it, so we got it from them, have to say it charges the 3 batteries to full in less than an hour, so it is definitely a good one, and it didnt cost us anything, fortunate really…

Suzanne, thanks for sharing your footage with us lovely shots! You said it was windy but it didn’t spoil or blur your shots, did you use filters?
Best wishes, Ken

Hi Ken, I have a Polarising filter fitted that I pretty much use all the time, helps to reduce glare and deepen the colours, plus a little underexposyre retains detail in shadows for later boosting in PP. The wind was blowing the drone all over, if you look at the part at 20 to 29 seconds you can see the drone bouncing up and down in the way the boat is moving in frame… Thankfully once moving the drone forwards or sideays it seems to deal with the blustery gusts much better - or perhaps it is our eyes dont see it as much. Windspeed was 20mph constant and gusting much higher, so on the limits of the possible, plus running on drges of batteries made it a little bit of an anxious flight, but the footage works well - I used almost every second of recording to be able to use that music track without having to fade it out
