Chance in a million …

This juvenile, female, Sparrow Hawk helped herself to one of the sparrows on the bird feeder, and then settled on the wall for her picnic.

Already in view through the patio doors, I gently moved to get my camera … hoping not to disturb her.

Annoyingly, I’d not had chance to change rather extreme settings from taking moon pics the other evening … so I was taking a couple, changing settings, taking a couple more, …

A bit gory …

Video

Didn’t take long for a greenfly to try it’s luck …

Through the viewfinder, I could see she was watching something …

… and then this Jay came in … hoping to get some left-overs!

PS - Sorry for so many pics in one post … but this is too much of a one off. There are another 80 pics if anyone … ?

I do feel very privileged. Not knowingly ever seen one in the wild, let alone make a kill … and then to devour it just 6m from me.

Managed to get a little closer to the window for the last pics and latter half of the video, the side of the window is visible in some of the early video work me trying not to be seen. LOL!
