A sewerage treatment facility
– Bonus point if more than 50 circular filtration tanks
This is Davyhulme Sewage Works, which processes most of Manchester’s effluent.
The photo was taken yesterday evening, flying with permission of Barton City Airport (this is within an FRZ).
I’m requesting the bonus point as per the Google Maps image below:
My understanding is that tanks 1-46 are trickle filters and sedimentation tanks / clarifiers (all as per the example photo provided), while 47-52 are the same thing with odour control roofing. I’ve not counted tanks which I believe are sludge digesters (e.g. those visible closest in the photo and bottom left in the layout plan) or where I really don’t have a clue what they are.
