UK Class Marks and Remote ID: What you need to know before 1st January 2026

Personally the small amount i use a drone id probably be forced to just stop using it and find another hobby. Too much red tape for a 20 min flight once in a month or 2.

The question is how many air police are they going to have the budget to recruit to enforce these rules :man_facepalming::rofl:

RID spoofing module?.. Watching Karen running about like a headless chicken when faced with a drone swarm on her door step, now that would be fun…

See section 5.14:

Offences: To ensure compliance, it is necessary for the police to have the ability to
enforce against operators who do not comply with these Remote ID requirements, or
who attempt to tamper with or spoof a Remote ID transmission. Therefore, new
offences may be created for non-compliance with these Remote ID requirements.
The specific detail relating to these will be shared in due course

Not that it’ll stop people

Nice one Ian, thank you. :ok_hand:perfect overview of ‘proposals’

Makes me laugh whenever government bodies consult. As always, the responses to consultations count for nothing in today’s dystopian bureaucracies. All they do is give a pat on the back for identifying what we all know makes sense or totally disregard the views of the masses for what they want.

Which CAA have proven right here.

86% of respondents were against, but CAA are gonna crack on anyway

RID on < 250g = Bad, Class Markings = good.

Is there a table showing the new drone classifications and their weight limits?

But given we have a lack of officers for normal policing as it is. This is going to be another low level crime that’s probably going to be unenforceable for all apart from the most stupid.

Ie those who fly by police stations and sensitive areas.

Is it? People said the same before the requirement of operator/flyer ID.

I fly both - mini4 pro and some very fast heavy model aircraft - A Test and B Test qualified via BMfA, mandatory Flyer ID since day one and I fly from a BMfA risk assessed club. Model aircraft are flown by serious hobbyists - many drones are flown by belligerent and ignorant idiots doing whatever they want wherever they want. RID is an attempt to manage commercial drone flying before it becomes reality - this is really a storm in a teacup. I have an opinion on idiots on e-scooters / electric moto-x bikes etc etc - best to just go with the flow and try to understand all this from the CAA perspective. When I go in a commercial airliner, I’m bloody glad they’re involved in making it safer

all of this is not going to make a single bit of difference to commercial aviation.

it’s like the restriction of drones about prisons… if one wants to do it they will.

Oh? Can you expand on that statement?

GDPR might have a say in the RID and as I understand it FAA is above 250g so not the same.

Won’t affect me as i an not taking up their offer! I will continue to fly my Mini drone and RC planes as i always have done, not having remote ID fitted to them! i am not giving way to corporate greed in the guise of delivery drones, delivering takeaways to lazy asses.

The CAA and Government can SIT AND SWIVEL!

How so?

FAA = Federal Aviation Administration = America only?
