Upgrading from a DJI Mini 3 Pro to a Air 3S?

I upgraded from the Mini 3 Pro to the Air 3S. Best thing that I ever did. Chalk and cheese! The Air 3S is an amazing drone, larger and heavier than the 3 Pro so I got my Operators ID and insurance to go with it. I keep finding out things about it as go on. Such as the landing light, useful at night.

I would see the Air 3S as a complement to the Mini 3 rather than as a replacement.

I have a Mini 2 and an Air 2, and use whichever is most appropriate for the location and conditions - most often the Mini2 due to the looser regulations where it can be flown

I have the Air 3 and I agree with many of the members comments. It’s definitely faster, more stable in windy conditions, battery life is 10+ mins longer, plus the whole drone feels more solid.

I’d would hold on to the mini 3 too as the mini series are great aircraft and useful in so many situations where a heavier and noisier aircraft can draw attention.

I have the mini 4 pro as well as the Air 3 and would only consider changing it for something like the mini 5 when it goes on sale.

Exactly why I’ve also kept my 4 Pro. :+1:

Same here, I have mini 2se, 4 pro and Mavic 2 pro and use them as conditions require. The M2 pro in country side or using article 16 but very stable in strong winds.

And has excellent camer considering it’s age.

I upgraded from a Mini 2 to the Air 3s, and gave it a first outing yesterday.

Wow, I was honestly seriously impressed.

The stability it offers and how fast and responsive it seems, not to mention clarity of footage, is a vast (and of course expected) improvement over a smaller and older drone.

Love the RC2 controller, no more faffing around attaching my phone (albeit I’ll probably keep my Mini 2) and I’m looking forward to trying out all of the inbuilt features. Self tracking and obstacle avoidance worked fine yesterday.

Very glad I’ve made the step up!

Rember in January the rules change to up to 900g in the uk so its perfect upgrade from a mini.

I read that this was rumoured, which was part of my hope behind buying one too, however if it’s treated as an A2 legacy drone (which I believe it will be) then won’t it simply retain the same restrictions as currently?

:crossed_fingers:

The Air3S is C1 rated, which if it all comes to pass has the same limits as C0 sub 250(mini 4 and 5) Mini 3 is legacy yes, but that doesnt affect where you will be able to fly the 3S.

Open Category — Low Risk — Civil Drones | EASA

Basically if you have a 3S, it renders the mini 4 and 5 pro redundant .. If it all comes to pass..

That’s a lot of “ifs” there, Neil
