I reckon my Mavic was very first gen; I rushed to buy it when they first came out. Perhaps it is too ancient to continue with after all.

As is mine, even just connected it to make sure

They can be a bit picky with USB leads, use the one that came with it or any other DJI one.

And yes just power up the drone nothing else.

As someone with and Inspire 2 and an Air2S I can tell you the image quality on the I2 is still superior. I have the X5S with 45mm and 12mm Olympus lenses and the video and image quality is stunning. Having said that I am using the Air2S way more than the I2 and have started to see more and more I2’s up for sale.
