Wanted - Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal 3T

Thinking about buying a new one shortly, thought I’d check if anyone has an underutilised one they wish to part with?

Great drone but if I were to part with mine I’m afraid it wouldn’t be a bargain - I like the damn thing way too much :man_shrugging: :+1: sorry

you do much work with it?

If you mean paid work Rob - nothing I do with it is paid for. I use it predominantly for SAR missions for missing dogs :man_shrugging:
I used to use a Parrot Anafi Thermal which has the main advantage of being 500 grams - so with an A2CofC I can fly it almost anywhere. Trouble was the connection and battery life were a bit flakey and I never knew how it was going to perform. The 3T is a rock solid connection and battery life is very good. If you need a SAR drone or thermal inspection drone - the 3T is probably the best out there at the price at this point in time. However, if you’re expecting it to be able to do pro quality photography/videography work - forget it. Whilst the zoom capability of the RGB camera is amazing, the RGB camera is no match for the Mavic 3 Pro - it doesn’t have RAW capability (despite everybody expecting DJI to add RAW in a software update) - or a variable aperture.
Despite some of its shortcomings, as long as you understand it’s a specialist drone (for thermal work) and not a jack of all trades, you’ll be more than happy with it. As already said - I won’t part with mine - unless somebody wants to gift me an M30T :flushed:

intend to use it for building + thermal inspections and photogrammetry… unfortunately I know it’s not a 3E with mechanical shutter. for photogrammetry

but the facade capability is what I’m after

I’d like to use it for paid work (clerk of works + snagging/ defects inspections)

It should serve you well. I’m sure you’re already aware but, as I understand it, the 3T does a passable job of photogrammetry but it is not able to achieve surveyor levels of accuracy even using the RTK module. :+1:

best new price I can get is ~£3900 (new), I suspect that the price is reflective of the new Mavic 4T… just not sure if I should hold out for that but expect that to be around the £6k price point. I don’t think the thermal camera will be improved only possibly the addition of integral RTK and a lidar distance sensor… so I’m not sure if the wait will be worth it.

I did think I’d keep any eye open for a 3E drone only given I can then mix and match controllers and batteries and the RTK module

That’s a good price for a new 3T :+1: Even though the 3T has been out a while, I’ve noticed that the Mavic 2 EA is holding its price really well.
From a thermal point of view, I agree, I don’t think the 4T will be much of an improvement if any - it just depends on what else they add - LIDAR seems to be the “in thing” on all the consumer drones at the moment.
With a 3E you’ve got the best of both worlds albeit an expensive option. However, if you’re able to make good money from photogrammetry - which I understand is not that difficult - then it should pay for itself quite quickly. I’d suggest getting the 3T first which would give you the limited photogrammetry. You could then see if that side of things takes off and would cover the investment in the 3E :man_shrugging: Would also get you going immediately and give you time to see what the 4T will bring to the table. :+1:
