Willington Power Station MEET-UP on 1st January 2020

INVITE TO ALL

@notveryprettyboy tells me this site is amazing to fly with plenty of interesting scenery.
I’m going to suggest meet at carpark at Buckford Lane DE65 6AR 52.862244 -1.535698 but if anybody more familiar with the site knows better then please shout-up.
10:00am start time.
The weather forecast says sunny cloud, no mention of rain so it may be a good day :crossed_fingers:
Cheers

If that’s the car park near the school I believe it’s barriered off.

It has a pretty apt 3 word address though

This 3 word address refers to an exact 3m x 3m location. Tap the link or enter the 3 words into the free what3words app to find it.

Anyhow, I’d love to come but have a family engagement that day :disappointed_relieved:

I’m keeping options open for moving this ‘meet’ to New Years Day
Weather forecast says duller, windier and more chance of rain but we can always look again at the weekend.
I’ve never had much truck with weather forecasts anyway :frowning_face:

Damn, just noticed this area is very restricted by NFZ’s
Now wondering if it is best place for a club ‘meet’
Advice requested please
Cheers
Steve :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s a fantastic place to fly. Yes it’s right on the boundary of a nfz so you need to be really careful.

Access is available via a gap in the fence. Don’t expect an easy way in.

This time of year the towers will be full of water as well. So I wouldn’t actually recommend flying there this time of year.

Won’t be out to join you on New Year’s Day tho. Have fun

I was planning to join you, however the NFZ’s make it a bit iffy for a 2 hour drive!

Only way in that I know of is a gap in the fence

Last time I went I parked

If this is a goer I’ll contact ATC to notify and get agreement
Steve

That would be good as I would like to attend.

Great thank you. @anon34183503
Less walking than coming in the back way,
I don’t use WTW much but have the app installed :+1:
Steve :slightly_smiling_face::rage:

I’m working monday. Otherwise I would.

I think this needs moving to New Years Day, Wednesday.
Who can make it then ?
Cheers
Steve :slightly_smiling_face:

We normally park here

And then just go through the gate here into the field, as long as your not going into the actual ground where the towers are, the farmer is quite accomodating. He told us he is charged with keeping the kids out as it is dangerous with falling rebarr from the towers.

Normally set up camp here

@Markb1604
Thanks Mark
That’s really useful as I’ve not been to this site before :+1::+1:
Cheers
Steve :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ll give it ago, when confirmed could you please consolidate all details.

I sent this email to Derby Airfield this evening

I’ll let you know the outcome
Cheers

@Steviegeek

Your name, address, email and phone number are all visible in footer of that last image mate.

I’ll pull the image and if you want to add again I’ll edit the post for you.

Seems fine with just the first image though.

Is this happening? Just catching up. I’m on call the two days before new years day, but free new years day? @Steviegeek
