There’s a distance lookyou, boyo.

What are you doing there? You’re not putting miles on a hire car any more

That was from last thursday. Last day of the hire car.

I was sat watching an uninspiring sunrise at calshot and thought ā€˜fuss it’ lets go get a burger. I know a van… in wales… also witches point

Im now googling 2nd hand diesel range rovers…

Ah - the date/time shown is the upload to Kuula, not when it was taken.

Diesel yes. Range Rover - double plus ungood. Even a well maintained one will turn round and bite your wallet.

Other SUVs are available …

Ah,

Yes. Just uploaded.

I havent looked into a new vehicle seriously as yet. My little jazz still seems to be going strong.

It’s just i’m always passing a place in portsmouth that has such things on its forecourt and they are only a slightly massively out of my price range  Above all i want something that gives me as much shit and i give it. Ie zero and doesnt mind sitting comfortably at motorway speed limits.

That damn hire car gave me ideas…

My local beach - or one of many local beaches I should say.

I’ve not thought of doing a 360, but I should do. Have done a few top down shots of the point though. Usually, it almost always has fisherfolk on it. And having just checked my catalogue, I have done a 360, just never shared it

But nice view.

It was very much a spur of the moment visit on that day.

I’ve visited before, a long while ago and remember much more spectacular sunsets.

It’s a very nice area you live in

Dare I ask why that ominous outcrop of rock is called Witches Point? I have a feeling it’s a pretty grim reason?

I’m really not sure.

I’ld imagine it has something to do with the ruins at the same site.

I’ll have a google the next time it’s too wer to fly

Maybe @stubbyd would have a better idea?

My mind went straight to ā€œthat looks like a good place to chuck people offā€.

I did some explorer on a previous visit.

At the base of the point would be a effective place to lash people to the rocks and watch ill things occur as the tide comes in..

I almoat got caught, myself

I’ve always assumed it was when looking at it top down it looks like a witches hat.

However, I recently learned it’s because it resembles the shape of a witches hooked nose.

Oh yes, they can be spectacular there and I do have a few shots in my catalogue.

Then i would humbly suggest you get to posting.

:slightly_smiling_face:

I’ld love to see some proper stuff

The iron age hillfort (half-eroded away) on the top was, it is said, once occupied by Caradog, or Caractacus, when he was assisting/being sheltered by the Silures. Sheltered behind it is the remnants of Dunraven Castle, which had been rebuilt in the 19th crntury as a manor house. It was used by the military as a hospital in WW2 and was still extant in 1963; I was 11 then and remember it. It was demolished in that year as structurally unsafe.

I’m only an amateur, but I do enjoy trying to capture the beauty around me. Here’s a few of mine … and only one shows witches point as sunsets are easier to get too than sunrises
