Woohoo. Yeehaa. :) First flight done

Got DJI mIni 2 flymore for Christmas. Christmas quite busy and to be honest, bit boozy too. Itching to get out with the new drone. Today the wind was low, showers in the afternoon but morning was supposed to be rain free. Wrapped up and set off to what YouTubers call “a big wide open space” for practice. Been on various sites gleaning info on the drone etc. Tried a few take offs and landings then set off round the park in Cine mode, then moved on to Normal mode. Forget the photo settings, that’ll come later.
WOW. That was GREAT. Loved getting used to the controls, even if going up high was a bit scary. Stayed within the confines of two football pitches in case anything went wrong.
Man, that thing is small. Looked up few times and had to search for it in the sky. Low sun didn’t help.
Rain started so came back having exhausted a battery and a half.
Looking forward to my next flight.
Only took a couple of photos, will get more next time.

Well done John, and welcome to GADC.
Not been flying long myself either, I have got the Mini 1 and an Air 2.
You are correct the mini is very small, but then that is to its advantage when the rules change on Jan 1st 2021.
Nice couple of shots with the camera, (love the sky in No.2)
Enjoy your new toy / hobby

Well done.

My hardest issue is not loosing the drone in the air!

I look down and then have to find it when I look back up!

Congratulations John, firstly on your first flight and secondly for doing it all gradually and, dare I say it, properly.

Welcome to GADC, you will not find a more friendly and knowledgeable bunch of people anywhere else on t’internet.

One final thought. Be prepared to get totally engrossed in this hobby.

It is such a great feeling, the first flight.

Mini isn’t easy to see but adding a little colour can help. Put a black skin on mine (I know black isn’t a colour!!) and added Neon orange highlights. Conversely my Wife added an orange skin with black lowlights. Contrasts well. Only managed a quick up and down (bloody weather) but it does make them more visible.

Take it steady and enjoy it.

Well done John on the first flight and also on taking it steady for a start , in my opinion you are correct in forgetting the camera and concentrate on the flying and control for a start . As for seeing it get a white flytron Cree and Velcro it on the back battery cover as low as possible they really help to see it . Hope you get some nice weather so you can get out again soon.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. Re taking it easy, just found the flight log on my phone in the fly app. First flight few seconds, got to 8m height. Then a few minutes, 25m this time. Must have gained some confidence after that as I got to 25m again with time of 8 minutes. Then 9 minutes at max 45m. Final flight of the day was seconds again. Rain stopped play. lol.
