2 Drones one controller

My apologies in advance if this is going over old ground, I did intend to post elsewhere but couldn’t fathom how to do it so, i’ve paid my money i’m going to take my chances. In its simplest form:-

I have an Air 2 with an RC 231
I also have a Mini 3 Pro with a DJI-RC (Screen)
I want to use the RC 231 as the controller for both drones. Not at the same time.
1, This can be done? (according to Heliguy)
2, Is there a link to show me how?
3, How do I disassociate the DJI-RC from the Mini 3 pro. Do I need to?
4, Is there a link to show me how,
5 How do I remove the DJI-RC from the account it’s registered with? (mine but a different account)
6 Is there a link to show me how?

Thank you

Right from the early days - a controller can only be bound to a single drone at any one time.

The dangers of it being bound to more than 1 are obvious … looking at one drone and controlling the other.

Therefore you only have to bind the controller to another drone for it to not be bound to the previous one.

Wow! I thought numbering I would make myself clearer.

Who in their right mind would would even try to operate 2 drones from the same controller simultaneously?

Chances are they wouldn’t intend to, but a possible scenario isn’t difficult to imagine.

You could have one drone flying with one controller when your friend/wife/child launches the other … and both of you had forgotten that one of the controllers was bound to both.

@OzoneVibe Dave

Have I pissed you off somehow?

@clinkadink, I’ll hold your coat :grin:

Agreed, nobody in their right mind.

Thanks for the idea. I’ll post the results :wink:

I’m in the same situation as yourself & I may be in the minority here, but I actually really like the DJI-RC. My Mini 3 Pro is a fantastic little drone, but
I also still like my original Air 2 & would love to be able to fly that with the DJI-RC too.
My understanding is that it’s not currently possible, so I’d be very interested if someone has found a way to do it.
Not really wanting to splash out on an Air 3, so I’d almost resigned myself to keeping an eye out for a good used Air 2s - hoping for a few to be around as people upgrade to the Air 3 :person_shrugging:.
Still loving this hobby, but watching in amazement at the amount of legislation that is descending on us & seemingly trying to stifle the whole thing. Very sad! :pensive:

@Steveo That’s not like me at all, I do not like the DJI RC controller i much prefer the RC-N1 as I can use Apple as the screen which is, IMHO much nicer than the feel of the DJI RC controller. I also doubt you’re in the minority, a lot of people on here love the DJI RC.
You are also correct, that your 2 drones CANNOT be flown with your current DJI RC but, can both be flown with a RC-N1. NOT at the same time however.

My apologies for the ambiguity, I merely meant the situation was similar in that we both wanted to fly more than one drone but linked to the same controller.
I misread your original post though, so my bad.
To be honest, I didn’t think there was an issue with using the same DJI 231 (or N1) controller with either the Air 2 &/or the Mini 3 Pro.
I don’t think you need to worry about disassociating the RC from your Mini 3 Pro, unless you want to sell it. I don’t have a link I’m afraid, but you just need to bind the controller to the relevant drone each time you want to change drones.
Happy flying :blush:

@Steveo
Cheers Steve, I’ve actually managed to do everything I wanted with the RC-N1 controller hence me getting rid of the RC controller with the screen.
Thanks for confirming i’d done it right though :grinning: :grinning:
