50% Increase on Adobe Monthly Software Plans in 2025

Time to look for an alternative.

Adobe are increasing the monthly software plans by 50% in 2025.

Taking the photography plan up to £14.99 / month from £9.98.

The current prices will be honoured until your renewal date.

Looks like we’re all having to pay for the AI improvements.

I see this the other day, I’m going to subscribe annually from what I’ve been paying which will keep the same lower price locked in ( yearly ) at least for now, if they start bumping the price up after that ill have to think of a plan B.

They can keep their AI ill tell them it’s the devil :japanese_ogre::+1:

Thanks for the heads up, I’ve just changed my monthly plan to an annual plan.

Bugger! Presently still using Lr 5 and photoshop cs3. Was looking to take out the photography plan in new year as can’t now edit latest raw files, still ok with my cameras as all fairly old and don’t feel need to update them. However I can’t edit at moment raw files from my drones. Looks like I’ll have to bring my plans forward.

Built into macOS already.

TBF I’m still trying to work out what photo editing software to buy. Torn between PixelMator or the Affinity suite.

Thanks for the heads up. I pay annually in April so it looks like I could be safe from the increase for the foreseeable future :crossed_fingers:

You might consider ON1 Photo Raw 2025. There is a one off payment for it. Also there’s a 30 day working trial.
Check out their web site for more detail.

DxO Photolab 8 is great. Works well with RAW files from DJI drone, too.

I’ll be sacking off Adobe when mines up for renewal.

Only trouble I’ve been using LR for years, at least 8, so I’m used to workflow.

I’ll have to give ON1 Photo Raw 2025, Affinity & DxO Photolab 8 ago and see if it’ll do what LR does.

Thank you for the suggestions

Same problem, iv’e used photoshop & lightroom for best part of 15 years Started with photoshop 5. Wheni got my first Mac mini 2012, started using Lightroom and used ever since. I know where everything is (well apart from a little senility issues) and what it does, the language*

*. I think that’s my issue with Davinci resolve - the language, that and I’m used to working with stills.

Not sure if you missed it because I just linked to it, but the Apple Photos app in MacOS can do a fair bit of LR-like work.

When you have a photo open click on the Edit button at the top right then you get these options…

I’m sorry but I’m afraid I don’t like Apple photos. It fills your internal drive for fun. I won’t even open it on my new Mac.

Thats easy enough to change though. And I turned off photos syncing via icloud. Mainly as it filled up my cloud storage

Ooh! I didn’t know that. Is it a new feature with latest op system? Was still running Sierra on my old mini. Also had awful experience with iTunes in past doing exactly the same thing. Now use Spotify.

As I,ve gone with the 256g option on my new Mac (going for 24g “ram”) instead. Using a 2 tb Nvme drive. I would like as much as possible to go on the external disk without faffing about too much.

You’ve always been able to change the location of the library and what copies it makes where since I’ve had Mac’s (2002)

affinty photo 2 one off payment

I used to work in the photography/publishing business and had Adobe’s Master collection. CS6 was the last version that was hard copy that I could use with my then version of Apple’s OS. After that I quit Adobe and now use Affinity. If you aren’t aware of it, you can buy it outright, so no subs. Have a look.

Adobe Camera Raw is free to use. It’s basically Lightroom without the other modules. Pair that with Adobe Bridge.

Would you know how I can get ACR without having to have PS LR or LRC ?
How would I download it,
Thank you
