A comparative discussion re: DJI Mini 2 vs DJI Mini 3 Pro?

Useful though, thanks for posting that.

The mini 3 don’t but the pro does :grinning:

Good point. Mini 3 (not Pro) does not have Active Track or Obstacle Avoidance.

Get that, but as the OP was intending to buy the 3 Pro in the first place, it does give an idea of the benefits of the Pro over the Mini 3.

I thought it would be worth a watch, but I’ll just shut up and mind my own business.

Don’t do that. Everyone is supposed to be welcome here, regardless of their opinions. If that’s not the case, then this isn’t the place for me either.

You are right. I originally asked about the comparative differences between the Mini 2 and the Mini 3, but that was before they announced the Mini 3 “Standard”. This then overrides my original question related to the Mini2 vs the Mini 3 as the non-“pro” pricing puts the Mini 3 in the ball park of something I would consider purchasing.

Again, as with the Mini2, the Mini 3 “non-pro” has a lowered specification, but that’s mostly stuff I can live without. My primary concern with the Mini 3 now becomes the much reported signal strength issues. But the reappearance of this “antenna stalks” (that’s just what I call then, there may be a more correct name)… like, “legs” :face_with_spiral_eyes: suggests that they have reintroduced a set of antenna in the legs. That may be to address the signal strength concerns. This is all my speculation, it has no grounding in fact.

Thanks for your input and feedback.

I noticed this morning that the Mini 3 is said to be OK down to -6 deg C, but the Mini 2 is only down to 0 deg C… at the moment, that might be important to you

It’s all useful to know information, thanks! It certainly will be of interest, given the temperatures we have been seeing, however, at these temperatures I am more concerned about icing - that’s what governs when I fly in colder weather :+1:t2:

It seems that when its as cold as it is at the moment (and its a crisp, clear day) icing does not seem to be too much of an issue (but clearly something to be aware of).

Agreed. The humidity in the air will contribute more to that. I live right on the coast, so it’s something I need to watch for.

I loved my mini 2 to death… but I love my new mini 3 Pro way more, and with the DJI RC it’s shed loads better. The mini 2 is moving on to a new owner pronto!

Never had a problem with mini 2 or the mini 3 pro signal (I stay within VLOS except when trees or buildings get in the way so tend to be no more than 300m away), icing up (flew at -6C in an icy fog with no issues), loss of RC screen brightness (don’t use apple stuff and not flown it in extremely hot conditions and the DJI RC is awsome), battery life (use spotlight now a fair bit so shots tend to be right 1st time so no need to waste valuable battery power reshooting), no problems in high winds (dont fly in winds above level 5) and the mini 3 pro camera is way better in my opinion than my mini 2 was.

Sub 250g drones are the only ones I’ll use as a recreational flyer, unless they change legislation. I personally would spend the extra for the mini 3 pro. The only real advantage I can see with the mini 3 is the superior camera and the portrait mode (dont use face book, tictok or instagram).

Good luck with whatever you decide to get. :+1:

Yep, I tend to agree with you. I’m going to be selling my M2Z pretty soon so I can finance a Mini 3 (standard or pro).

Good afternoon, for a new pilot which is best a DJI 2 OR A DJI 3
THANKS

Hi, George, and welcome to GADC.

I’ve moved your post to this thread that has some comparative information, and I’m sure others will add their thoughts.

I have upgraded from a Mini 2 to a Mini 3 Pro.

The disadvantage of the 3 is that it is not compatible with Litchi. Though there is a Beta version around now, on an Android platform.
