I am now stuck in the rut of wanting to create something everyday, but being limited as to what I have near enough to shoot in my working day without spending hours travelling. So I am trying to vary things, so today’s clip has no music but sound effects instead. I used longer transitions too, to combine with the sounds, and the clip has a different feel to it.
Be interesting to see what you think. I know the material isn’t jaw dropping, but I enjoy trying to make something meaningful out of the normal.
Oh that’s kind, thanks Iain. Again, not too much of an effort to get the sounds in there but something I hadn’t planned until I got home and plugged the craft in to the PC. The ime was finding and choosing sounds appropriate to the footage.
Fantastic. The sounds brought it to life. The quality was good making it sound authentic but also the level of the audio was set right so it did not feel fake but very believable. If you had not said sound effect i think a few people would be asking how you git such a great sound from a drone.
Oh thanks Foley - I did have to adjust the volumes to be level across the video. The woodpecker and bark were super loud, and the flying through the breeze at the end super quiet, so I manually adjusted all until I was satisfied.
Nice. It does make a change from the usual music that would accompany such videos (and I am very guitly of the same thing).
I bet some smartarse will say ‘ahh, but that type of bird wouldn’t live in that forest’
If someone had said to me six months ago that I’d get a kick out of watching videos on trees, I would have said they were mad. Looks like we all have the drone bug baaaad!
Lol yes I know what you mean. It does feel like many drone footage or images can be quite predictable so im looking for angles and methods to be different. Im finding a lot of my favourite media is close to ground level. As I learnt from helicopters, once your up in the sky everything looks the same and the horizon doesnt change.
The sound effects are super cool. I used a sound effect of waves on a video I did of some waves on Lake Michigan washing agaist some limestone cliffs and I’ll be damned if the sounds of the waves almost perfectly matched with the rhythm of the waves in the sound clip.
Thanks! I am genuinely surprised this has generated interest, I was literally killing an hour and the only reason I chose to add sounds was because I felt the footage was quite boring. I feel like I want to do another now - question is, what setting? War time sounds from the cemetery? Religious sounds from a church? Decisions decisions!
