A fast multi-battery charger? (Mini 3/4/5)

Evening all, I am in need of a multi-battery charger (charging more than 1 battery at a time). I have this huge box that came with the Air 2S, which is great but I don’t know that I trust the brand.

The FPV2SKY charger in the back does 2 batteries, but it’s flaky and stops working if you provide it more than 30W from the AC adapter. If anyone has a solid recommendation, I’m all ears. Would prefer it to be USB-C so I can use it in the car too. Both the AC & car adapter can provide 60W.

I had a Lyongtech 4-port charger for my Mini batteries (from Amazon) and it worked fine with Mini 3, 4 and 5 batteries. Being a parallel charger, it was a lot quicker than the DJI equivalent. Mains only, of course.

I currently have this in my basket - LYONGTECH 100W Battery Charger with Storage Charge for DJI Mini 5 4 3 Pro | Fast Two-Way Charging Hub,Charge Three Batteries Drone Accessories: Amazon.co.uk: Toys & Games

My business account has it at £33 inc. VAT. Seems like a good deal to me.

Whilst out and about

I use the dji power 1000 with the 1kw incar charger. Depending on the rated amperage of your battery/alternator you can fully charger the 1000 in about 80 minutes.

It has 2 140w usb c plus 2 usb A build in aswell as 2 240v 2200w outputs.

Combine that with 2 240v 65w usb c you get a decent output. These also have a usb A port but using this at the same time knocks an amp or so off the fasr charging.

There is also the trickle 120w charging option using the fag lighter connected to the 1000 or just a seperate 65w fag charger.

Admittedly, im a bit of a dji biased tart but this setup lets me play with 3 or 4 drones all day, including a m30t as well as a laptop, tablet and a couple of phones. I could do with a power hub, Ankler is a decent brand to save fiddling with cables

When at home you can use the same setup subbing in the wall power for the 1kw charger. Effectively using the 1000 as a very big charging hub/ups

Oh I’m certainly jelly of that setup - I just don’t think I could sweet-talk myself into it. I was thinking sub-£100, I should have been upfront about that lol. I’ve actually ordered the device above, just waiting for it to turn up so I can give it a go.

Hehe,

I justified it all by telling myself ill set myself up as a drone services business. I got some of the toys in prep but didnt get around to the gvc before they changed stuff.

Btw.
I’ve been looking at either

Or the pricey

I’m currently using live streaming to twitch/youtube as a reason to fly with some success.

Running into bandwidth issues on occasion. Not happy with the quality of the stream but I thought it would be fun to be able to throw a client a tablet with a live stream of their roof survey etc.

Options are either bonding a couple of sim data services together or throw mr musk some money and fiddle with starlink mobile. Which is where all this power comes in. I’ve not looked into the requirements on purpose. Car needs a mot before anything else

Oh I started down the commercial route in 2019, did my PfCO down in Oxford and got myself all neatly setup - then had the rug pulled from under me and found that 99% of my business plan could be achieved with the sub-250g drones - I never renewed after that.

I still operate as DroneSite UK though I mostly keep to local missions nowadays, around my full-time job. One thing I would love to get my hands on is an LTE range extender. I know I shouldn’t have any need for one without a GVC+OA .. just seems cool.

Mobile signal booster?

Btw

You shouldnt have mentioned that.

You’re now on my list of people whose brains i want to pick

Have you ever played with thermal surveying?

This is what I am eyeing up - DJI Cellular Dongle | 4G Enhanced Transmission | Drone Safe Store

Mean to have a licence from Ofcom and “technically”, a specific SIM - which of course I would do if I owned one!

Thermal has been asked for, once. It’s not popular enough of a service for me. Most clients want a quick check of a roof/something up high, or some nice looking footage.

I don’t know if it’s a good thing being on someones list lol.

I use the cellular dongle 2 on the mini 4 and m30t
You need to pay dji a few 10’s of quid a year for server access iirc but you can use 2 dongles on the same account.

I use payg on 3. £10 data addon lasts 30 days and i’ve never used all, however many gb that gets me.

I dont recall being nagged for licences, just add the credit, transfer the balance to the addon via the 3 app and away we go but now you mention it. Yes. Appropriate Licenses and sims should be used.

Shame the dongle doesnt work with the pro 2 controller but still…

Im gona play with some thermal modeling of some stuff at some point. A quiet sewage works has been suggested.

Curiously,

Dronesafestore don’t mention a need for licences or sims…

And just like that… one is on the way

Do let us know how you get on with it
