A few days in the North of Scotland

A few days away, our last Scotland trip of the year, to see friends and to share laughter, friendship, and love with those we hold dear, in the land where our hearts yearn to be… Not visiting as tourists but as future locals…

A long drive north, through the beauty of this land, scarlet rowan berries dripping from the trees, yellow ragwort, swathes of pink rosebay willowherb, and of course the majestic purple of the heather-clad mountains…

Undeterred by doom-laden weather forecasts we knew the warmest welcome was waiting from our friends, and as normal with Scotland, if you don’t like the weather, then just wait 10 minutes it will change - and in this land of sunshine, winds, rainbows, and drama it proved as true as ever…

2 days of exploring places we had not visited, stunning locals with breathtaking views and awesome vistas - plus spending time with friends and meeting an online friend to boot - and perhaps a few drone flights - even at the extremes of the flight envelope thanks to the winds…

Eagles, Seals, Highland Coos, sheep, turquoise-bathed beaches, heather-clad mountains, wildflowers, mountain streams, epic mountains, islands in the sea, amazing sculptures and ruins, and friendship and love - all nurturing to the soul and much needed…

A long trip back - made worse by traffic from horse trials at Blair Castle and abysmal weather for a good part of the journey, but we are back safe - although the view from the window is just wrong, I need to see the mountains, the sea, the elements and to know that our hearts are where they should be…

One day, and hopefully as soon as possible, we shall call that northern land our home, until then memories, future plans, and some drone videos will have to suffice to nurture our spirits until we can return again…

Thank you to our friends for their amazing hospitality, and for renewing our spirits and providing more impetus for future move…

Absolutely beautiful! My wife and i spent two months touring around Scotland in our caravan last year. Just wish i had been a drone owner then. Your pics are bringing memories flooding back!

Thanks John, wait until the video are edited
It is a stunning land, I am glad the memories have been flooding back, although now you have a drone it is a pretty comp;eling reason to go back again

Looks like you had some nice weather, or was it hit and miss?

Very hit and miss tbh… 15 to 40mph winds, and lots of heavy showers, but some sunshine too… Enough reasonable weather to grab some good footage, and some grabbed in 30+mph winds with the AIR3 - although the AVATA was struggling at times, 30mph winds and flying with the AVATA don’t mix, thankfully the main AVATA target was only 6 miles from ur friends house, so an early morning capture in 15mh winds the following morning worked well enough…

Thanks for the sub @AlbionDrones . Ive just subbed you back, but i think i may well be there a while! Looks like youve probably captured footage i wouldve if id had a drone last time we were there. Absolutely stunning place!

Lol, sorry, I am quite prolific, about 310 videos on there from the last 2 years of droning, and the majority is Scotland… More to come, just processing one from a mountain stream in Tongue that I captured on Saturday morning while in the area…

Lucky you. My wife and i sold our house in late 2022, and decided to buy a caravan to tour the UK. We spent the whole of May and June there last year. Spent time in Maybole, Sanquhar, St. Andrews, Loch Ness, Glencoe, Barcaldine, Oban, and Denny, near Stirling. Such a wonderful place to spend our time!

Heres the few from our front window in Barcaldine, next to Loch Cranagh.

Stunning view… We have plans to move to Scotland, probably the far north, Suherland or Ross-shire, but finances aren’t quite in place yet, so lots of holidays and trips to visit friends, and to capture the beauty with the drone…

Scotland is such a stunning place Suzanne, as you aready know. I just wish more people in Scotland would treasure it as much as you do. Such a fantastic place to live, despite the weather and the midges. The whole of the UK is packed with stunning places to visit and see, too many of us take it for granted

The weather adds drama, you have to work with it, and midges, well, they are what they are, a bit of Smidge helps, but staying away from them also works to a degree… I can’t wait until we can move north…

Was our dream too until illness put a stop to them, great memories though from the many years holidays and visiting family, don’t leave it too late like us.

Couldnt agree more. Its similar to going over to County Kerry in Ireland. A stunningly beautiful place, but the weather helps paint the picture!
