A great year for butterflies 🦋

Seen more butterflies than usual? 2019 is said to see an abundance of butterflies dues to the weather conditions. The ‘Painted Lady’ has not seen such numbers since 2009. These were taken a few weeks back.

After a number of years where I’ve hardly spotted a single butterfly, this year we are inundated with them. Must admit its nice to see them about :+1::+1::+1:

Not butterflies, but my usual 50+ Goldfinches haven’t reached more than 12 this year. The two big feeders remain in the attic. :man_shrugging:

We haven’t seen so many goldfinches either?

Nor here! 3 in total this year.

As were on the subject of wildlife, I would list butterflies that I’ve seen but don’t know yet what there all called.
So here’s a few things that have visited.

Wildlife in the garden this year.
Hedgehogs
Goshawk
Kestrel
Heron tried but ‘tried but not enough room for landing’
Blackbird families
Thrush families
Blue tit families
Great tits
Coal tits
Long tailed tits 100’s
Robins
Dunnocks

Sparrows 1000’s and families
Goldfinches 3
Doves
Starlings 1000’s
Pigeons,jay, jackdaws
Bats visit nightly

Family of brown rats who know all about traps!
Neighbours cats until poppy chases them halfway up the road.

For a small garden it’s active, oh and I forgot occasional drone😁
