A Neo was nearly eaten 10 seconds into its maiden flight

After my recommendation, a friend got a DJI Neo. Yesterday, we both went out flying. I started off, giving him an overview of the three connection methods to the Neo (direct control, via phone, and via controller). While I was trying to land a bulldog took interest and was actively chasing it, so I moved the drone up. He repeated this a couple more times when I tried to land again, so I took the drone far up and waited until he lost interest/left the area. We then took a wander further around the park we were in.

My friend then unpacked his pride and joy and decided to start with a dronie. For some reason, by default it was set to the ‘low’ position, so the drone went back about 10 metres, but less than half a metre from the floor. As soon as it reached 10m away, lo and behold the bulldog appears like a bat out of hell, and tried to bite the drone out of the air. Thankfully, he only succeeded in catching it slightly, knocking it out of the air. My friend dived in and managed to grab it as it bounced off the grass. The Neo ended up with a few grass stains and dog slobber, but literally nothing else. It could have been a lot worse!

I wonder if that is a record for shortest near destruction!

Funny you should say that, my 7 year old cocker has been round drones all his life and the only one he has taken to chasing and barking at is the Neo.

My cats chase the Neo when I’ve flown it in the house, they’re not sure about my mini 2 & positively wary of my M2Pro, although so am I :sunglasses:.

Maybe the frequency of the sound of the motors maybe?

Probably. Does sound a bit like an angry bee. All my pets (dogs and cats), have chased bees.:smile_cat:

Not taken ours up yet so will see how we get on.
