A short canal video

Hi, I am curious as to whether Vimeo is a better option than YT for displaying videos - this is my first upload, 7 day trial, £120 for the year, what are your views, many thanks, Paul

Hi @Paul1973 I’ve edited your post to include the OneBox preview.

To do this just paste the Vimeo link into a new line on its own with no spaces etc.

No need to use the insert hyperlink button in the message composer or any embed code, its all done automatically for you if you follow the above.

OK, thats great, will try it on the next one, many thanks :ok_hand:

Nice first go!

YT is free!

Don’t know owt about Vimeo so don’t know what the dosh is for. If I’ve come across it before I’ve never known it.

If it’s for editing/processing etc, Davinci Resolve is free and excellent.

I’ve only just started putting vids together too.

I’ve just learnt that videos can (for extra entertainment value) tell a story (I get bored easily!) with an introduction, main story, and conclusion.

It can all start before the drone takes off, and develop as you find subject matter or vantage points you didn’t know were there!

And then editing… Bit of a brain ache of a learning curve lol.

You seem to have uploaded at 720p … which really isn’t a valid test, since it probably won’t look that fantastic on any device.

If you are aiming at uploading at high bitrate 4k … then you will see an improvement using Vimeo.

Many thanks, had a quick glance at Davinci, looks intricate! I am using Lightcut to edit currently, for me YT is open source for content stealers whereby Vimeo you own the IP, potential to offer ‘shutterstock videos’ to incur revenue? rather than ads on YT? I may be wrong! The story idea I agree with - a good video (like any film) has a good beginning, middle and end. Kind regards, Paul

Using a mini4 so feel i should take complete advantage of the 4k. Purchased a 512gb mem card for high resolution evo class10 micro sd so space isnt an issue. I think Vimeo for £120 a year its not much plus huge storage space available 1TB - thanks

That’ll go pretty quickly with hi bit-rate 4k!

Got ya. :+1:

True

In the end, it depends what you want … an online video presence, or best quality possible. … that’s basically YT v Vimeo for you.

Professional I’d say.

The free version is so easy when you know how, like anything I suppose. But it does everything you need.

The paid version I’ve seen at £235 for life.

I did look at LightCut but it’s too basic. Harder to do what you need.

@Paul1973 I’ve recently started using Davinci Resolve, for a free editing software it has a lot of features, it can take time to get used to but I won’t use anything else now
