A story of persistence and blind luck

I went out to try my DJI FPV drone in Manual Mode for the first time last week. Came out of a big loop and stuffed it into a wheat field. When I consulted the flight log, the last GPS point was the week before when I was flying in a different field.

So I walked all over the biggest wheat field in East Anglia…

I’D COVERED ALL OF IT, BUT MY PHONE ONLY DECIDED I WAS EXERCISING AFTER TWO WIDTHS…

So I resigned myself to its loss. DJI wasn’t going to replace it, because “FlyAway” cover doesn’t include knowing where you crashed it. I bought a Mini 3 Pro. Then I thought, “Ooh! I can use this to search the field better….” and spent another two mornings looking at an awful lot of this:

GOD IT WAS BORING. EXCEPT WHEN I FOUND A FOX. BUT HAD FILLED THE MEMORY CARD….

But what…?! DJI have found up-to-date flight logs in the cloud!

YES… H IS WHERE I WAS SAT AND THE BLUE ARROW IS WHERE IT CRASHED. A 25 METRE WALK.

So I went back, and flew over it in this pattern. Note the difference between this and the first picture.

And… what’s this…?!

I’m fairly lucky not to have crashed it into my stupid head. And guess what… after a week and a half outside through at least two rain storms…?

It still works perfectly!

Good result !

You are so lucky, really! So now you have 2 drones, you found a fox and enjoyed the biggest wheat field :grinning:

I know that feeling well. Glad you found it mate

Doesn’t find my drone work on the Fpv

Not on this occasion! Grrrrr.

Oh that’s a great result! Nice to win one once in a while!!
