They are just roughing in the alternative route, which tracks to the North of the existing Kex Gill road, which keeps slipping into the Beck. It’s going to take another 2 years. Here’s the start.
I hope to post updates as the project wears on. Now if only they could find a way to bypass the whole of Harrogate, which for 60 years I have only experienced as a rude interruption in the passage between Lancashire and York. BTW the Mini 3 was struggling to make headway into the wind up the valley, though there was no wind where I was on the North Moor Road to West End.

Blubberhouses Bypass is open from the West End on down the slope. All but the complex Fewston end junction now open. I’ll be going to have a look on Friday. Hope I can concentrate on videos down in the valley, from now on. Should be an interesting area to walk round and (still) fly in.
By the Way, for some odd reason the official project is called Kex Gill bypass. Now, Kex Gill is the little trickle that runs down the West side of Beamsley Moor, into the Wharfe at Bolton Bridge. Whereas Hall Gill is the actual stream they’ve been rejigging, and that runs in to the River Washburn at Blubberhouses village. The Washburn then runs into the Wharfe below Otley. In spite of that, I see references to all this stuff being in the ‘Nidderdale national landscape’. It’s not: it’s in Wharfedfale!

I am interested in seeing that, used the A59 a lot in the past few years in an HGV.
