Abereiddy and Blue Lagoon - Added to Iconic Landscapes and Ancient Sites in Pembrokeshire, Wales

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

I flew here just before Storm Amy hit, and other than a couple of cold water swimmers and a dog walker the place was deserted.

In the first shot, you can see the tiny hamlet of Abereiddy on the right, with the remains of the old slate workers cottages mid-picture (just in front of the standalone white building [public toilets, and very clean ones too]) and the Blue Lagoon off to the left with 'Abereiddi Tower' in the distance.

In the second image you can see the Welsh Blue Lagoon which was closed due to breading seals and their pups in the area, and also the reason I stayed out at sea for my panorama.

I believe it is a popular surfing and coasteering location and the white hut on the beach is for the parking attendant - so there is a cost during high season.

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 02/10/2025. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location. Landowner permission may be required before taking off.

Or the “not so blue” lagoon. Looking rather more a grey lagoon that day. :stuck_out_tongue:

True - and more green than blue. Storm Amy was well and truly on the way and I guess the sea bed was a little churned up.

Swam there back in June, but too windy for the drone!

Yeah, I get that but living in Wales it is something I have to accept. I was fortunate to get several flights in over a couple of days as this and the others were all at the start of Storm Amy, and that battered this coastline.
